It’s finally Friday! Did anyone feel like this was the longest week ever? ‘Cause I sure did. I’m celebrating the weekend with another Friday Favorites roundup post, even though I still have 11 hours of rehearsal to get through before Sunday. Gotta love marching band . . .
It’s been such a crazy week, what with the beginning of school and all that. I kind of forgot that school=classes=homework=no sleep, so the first night that I got 6 hours of sleep was a bit of a surprise. My nightly average during summer break is 8 hours, but my average during school is more like 6.5. Running a blog during school is a lot harder than I thought it would be!
Anyway, it’s the weekend now. It’s time to forget about school and responsibilities (most of them, anyway) for 48 hours! Hopefully, you guys have something exciting planned — wait, you’re reading this post! Your weekend is already off to a great start! 😉
In case you missed anything these past few days, I shared a Moroccan carrot salad in an avocado bowl (yep, you read that right . . . a bowl made from avocado) and some pistachio chocolate chip cookie roasted strawberry ice cream sandwiches. Yeesh, those are long titles. Sorry.
On to this week’s Friday Favorites!
I’m starting off with a screenshot of my Instagram feed, simply because I’ve been a lot more in love with my “aesthetic” since I started posting DSLR photos.
I also re-vamped my bio and my profile picture! For the first time ever, my feed has a consistent theme! I would appreciate it so much if you followed along with me here.
On to my next favorite . . . A Color Story Photo Editing App! I used this app to edit almost every photo pictured above! (I used PicMonkey for the LaCroix photo and Instagram for the quote.) This app is just amazing! I love that you can save your own custom presets, and it has a wide range of tools that can compete with more expensive apps like Lightroom and PhotoShop. A Color Story is free, but it includes in-app purchases for things like extra filters and effects.
Speaking of photos, let’s talk about photography. As always, I included my favorite photography article of the week. Today, I’m sharing this all-encompassing article from Serious Eats. I loved their food styling tips!
I’m also obsessed with grapes, especially these “black grapes” that are dark enough to stain a cutting board. (Seriously, they did!) For whatever reason, I put these grapes in my LaCroix as mock ice cubes. It was pretty tasty.
This week, I have two ingredient crushes. Don’t judge me — it’s summer & I’m obsessed with fruit. We have waaaaay too many peaches in our fridge right now (our neighbor gave us a box of fiftysomething tiny peaches!), so I thought I’d use some in a fun little photoshoot!
This week, I’ve got a fun fitness article to share: some of the most beautiful places to run from Runner’s World. In case you’re new here, there are a few things you should know about me: I make (and eat) paleo recipes, I’m part of a marching band AKA I have no free time, and I’m a runner. Oh, and I’m addicted to sweet potatoes. You can read more about me on my about page, if you’re so inclined.
Where were we? Oh yes, the most beautiful places to run. My favorites are Yosemite, Sundance, and Positano (Italy)! Honestly, every single place on the list was amazing. It was hard to choose just three! I’d like to run at all of them . . . maybe someday.
I collected some of my favorite recipes from around the web for these Friday Favorites. Enjoy!
Speaking of muffins, these paleo herbed sweet potato muffins look awesome. Sign me up!
This chocolate frosting is made with sweet potatoes. Enough said.
I think I’ll need this Whole30 vanilla latte whenever I pull an all-nighter . . . which will probably happen this year. Cheers!
Even all-nighters need snacks. Or, you know, paleo pumpkin coffee cake as “breakfast” at 2:30 AM. Yes, I’m excited about pumpkin in August. Fight me.
Also, I think I might make my own portobello “fajitas” for the blog. What do you think? This recipe certainly looks awesome!
To round out this week’s collection of Friday Favorites, I’m sharing three sneak peeks of recipes that I cooked last week! What do you think these are? Tell me in the comments!
Happiest of weekends to you!
