Sheet Pan Burger & Fries

This Sheet Pan Burger & Fries is an easy Whole30 recipe and a simple one-pan meal! It actually contains more than just a burger patty and fries; I included some vegetables for added nutrients and fiber. You can mix and match what you put on the pan, but the basic premise is the same: it contains meat, a healthy starch, and lots of veggies! I added a sauce on top, but it’s completely optional. You can stick to your favorite burger toppings if you want. 🙂

Sheet Pan Burger & Fries

Hello, and welcome to the first post of 2019! I’m so excited to start this new year! I can’t say I have any huge plans that I’m keeping under wraps, besides the crazy notion of posting regularly (and that’s not a secret). I have my editorial calendar all planned out for the next few months, and I can’t wait to share some of these fun recipes with you!

Sheet Pan Burger & Fries

This year, I’m challenging myself to try new things — I tend to eat the same foods over and over. Since I plan to run some more half-marathons (and hopefully a full marathon) this year, I need to make sure I’m fueling properly. I love sweet potatoes and potatoes (obviously), but I can only eat them so many times before I get sick of them. I’ll definitely need lots of carbs, so I’m looking into new starchy options.

Cereal, bagels, toast etc. are very common foods in the running community. However, they’re obviously not Paleo-friendly (or economical — cereal is actually pretty pricy considering how little you get in a box!). I’m going to try out more starchy veggies like acorn squash, butternut squash, roasted carrots, plantains, etc. However, I know that some grains (like rice and sorghum) don’t bother my stomach. Since they’re cheap and very readily available, I plan on eating grains/gluten-free pasta many times during the next few months. 🙂

Just because I plan on eating more grains doesn’t mean I plan on eating fewer vegetables! This Sheet Pan Burger & Fries is chock-ful of veggies, and I can tell you without shame that I ate all of them in a day. (This is kind of a one-person meal anyway.) I’d make this Sheet Pan Burger & Fries on a weeknight when my family eats something I can’t have (haha). Alternatively, I’d make this on a normal night when I’m a broke college student who needs cheap, healthy food. That’s gonna happen soon hahaha.

Sheet Pan Burger & Fries

That’s all for today! I know there was only one recipe this week . . . I was taking time off and doing family/holiday/vacation stuff. There will be two posts next week!

Have a great day!

Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Heat a pot of salted water over high heat and slice the potato into fries. Once the water is boiling, add the potatoes. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until soft.
  3. If your burger patty is frozen, thaw it. Place the frozen vegetables at the edge of a baking sheet or cast-iron skillet. Put the burger patty in the middle.
  4. Once the potatoes are soft, remove them from the water and arrange them around the burger. Drizzle the olive oil over the vegetables. Sprinkle the Montreal seasoning over everything.
  5. Bake the burger and vegetables in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, make the sauce by whisking all of the ingredients together.
  7. Serve the contents of the pan with the sauce on top. Enjoy!
