This Paleo Hot Cereal is an easy, delicious, and healthy breakfast that takes less than five minutes to whip up!
Now that the weather is cooling off, I’m constantly craving warm foods like soup and oatmeal. The problem with that craving is . . . I haven’t eaten oatmeal in years! As I mentioned when I shared this Paleo Coconut Granola, oats were even harsher on my stomach than gluten. Most of the time, I don’t miss oats — Who would prefer oatmeal raisin cookies over chocolate chip cookies, anyway?! Still, there are some days when I just want a big bowl of something porridge-y for breakfast. Is that just me?
Enter this Paleo Hot Cereal! It’s completely grain-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free, but its texture mimics that of oatmeal almost perfectly! It tastes as good as the real thing!
So, the other reason I wanted to make Paleo hot cereal was because . . . um . ..
All right, I’ll just admit it.
I get this thing I like to call oatmeal jealousy.
I see bowls like this one on Instagram, and I just turn green with envy. My food is never that pretty! Is it too much to ask to be able to create a bowl of oatmeal art? I mean, I just can’t stop comparing my little ugly salads with this Banana Oatmeal with Ricotta, Honey, Orange, and Toasted Buckwheat.
So you know what I did?
I made Paleo Hot Cereal. Boom.
It’s gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, vegan, vegetarian, low-carb, easy, and (most importantly) delicious. YOU NEED.
And yeah, I know these photos aren’t as good as Tieghan Gerard’s (I love her blog, Half Baked Harvest, SO MUCH!!!), but hey — I tried. One day, maybe I’ll be as talented as her. Until then, I’m content with the skills that I have. I’ll just try to improve a little every day.
I think I’ve done a pretty good job of achieving that goal in the past few months. If you look back into the archives — even those from June — I think I’ve gotten better at writing AND photographing since then. My following has grown (Hey, that’s you! Thank you for reading!), and my recipes are of higher quality . . . or at least I think so. In the past few weeks, I’ve been SO excited about all of my new recipes — much more so than I was earlier in the year. Taking joy in my work really has make a difference.
Sorry to get all philosophical on ya. Time for some food, am I right?
